About Surah An-Naba

An-Naba, "The Great News", is a Meccan surah of 40 verses and opens the thirtieth juz ('Amma). It answers those who disputed about the resurrection by pointing to the signs of creation — the earth spread out, the mountains as pegs, sleep for rest, the night and the rain — and then describes the Day of Sorting, the punishment of the transgressors and the gardens of the righteous.
